We are back from our trip to the Outer Banks. We were gone for 10 whole days and enjoyed every minute. We decided to go down the weekend before our "official" week started and rented a little house in Kill Devil Hills. We enjoyed checking out a different beach and being on the main drag for a little bit. It was convenient to eating at Mama Kwan's and visiting at Mike & Megan's temporary abode for the weekend in Nags Head. Minus Charlie getting stung by a jellyfish, it was great.
We moved into the main house on Sunday and had a great week... our house really seemed to work well minus the sunny windows (great except for when you have kids that wake at the crack of dawn, literally). We enjoyed the pool, the pool table, the screened in porch and for us, the connecting bedrooms. Like a little mini-apartment!
We hit the beach daily as well as the pool. Charlie went out on his new boogie board with Jon and Matt & Will pushed the trucks up the beach. They would probably have made it as far north as we would have let them. The pool was great for a quick cool down. It was nice to have lots of adults & kids for help watching and entertainment. This trip seemed pretty monumental to me. 5 couples, Melanie's mom and 8 kids. Definitely the largest group I've been with, but also the 1st time (nonetheless trip) for all of Ken & Linda's kids & grandkids to be together since they all came along 4 and 5 years ago. It was so cool to see the kids get to know each other and go off and play with different folks at different times.
One of the favorite days for all of us, was when Charlie & the other big kids took a trip to Manteo for a Pirate Adventure with the dads. It was amazing... they scouted the treasure map, fought off enemy pirates, drank grog and found treasure. They had an absolute blast as did the moms who were treated to a morning at the beach and lunch OUT at Aqua!
Jon and I also enjoyed dinners at some of our favorites: Red Sky & the Pelican. They are the standby's for us. It was nice to get a couple of nights out and celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary on Saturday the 26th.
We are back at home and back in our routine, but thankful for the summer, seafood, cousins, and our time at the beach.

Updates
It has been a busy month... work has been really busy hence lack of time for blogging... but we have all welcomed the return of summer with open arms. Charlie has been out of school since Memorial Day and has been fun for him to have excursions and spend more time around the house.
All the boys really enjoy the water... we made a quick trip to the River to visit Wayne & Gail's house and have been visiting our new pool quite a bit. We are all looking forward to a vacation in the Outer Banks with the Kolkhorst/Nystrom cousins.
Matt checking out the view at the river. He loved pushing his dumptruck up and down the beach... with only a few frustrations at big hills blocking his path. Matt is a little more cautious of the pool and likes to stick close by with mom or dad.
Will and his shovel. He loves the water and pushed his dumptruck out into the river and around the water. He also loves the pool and takes off across the baby pool with no fear.
Charlie in his new scuba gear. He is already swimming by himself in the big pool this summer. It will be fun to see how far he gets after a summer of lessons as he is starting pretty comfortable in the water.
Matt and Will cooling off after the afternoon.
