Not better, but not worse!

Well, I can say that for the babies. The weather is dismal. I don't think there is anything worse than rain in 35F weather. GIVE US SNOW!!! It's come to the North, South, East and West of us. I think it's our turn!

Will is still spitting up quite a bit, but I think the breathing treatments may be helping that and they both seem in a good mood. Will and Matt are both smiling and definitely love it when their mom and dad (or grandma's papa's brothers) talk to them. Will just started coo'ing and really "talking" in the past couple of days too!

again...

What a yucky day. We did see a few flakes mixed in this morning with sleet, but pretty quickly it turned to freezing rain and then just rain...

We took the babies to the dr. this morning... they have been congested, but have developed a pretty deep cough and have been spitting (throwing) up which is usually a sign of something else. Sure enough, they have RSV. The Dr. didn't seem to think they would get much worse, and we are going to try to do breathing treatments at home and hope that works in breaking up the congestion. Surely it must work, b/c the medicine is $600!!! you would have to think that works some type of magic!

Charlie is recovering from his 2nd bout with strep throat.

Jon and I are managing to stay well... hope we can keep that up!

Time is flying by...

I have 5 more weekdays before I go back to work. I can't believe it, but then again, it seems like a lifetime since I last worked. In a way, I am looking forward to it. We have hired 2 nannies, 1 gal for Mondays and Fridays and 1 gal for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. It's going to be nice to have the babies here and I think will help with the transition back into workforce. Of course, I am now going to be sequestered to the basement, since we moved my office down here. Thank goodness we freshened things up last year with drywall, paint, new flooring, etc. It's not too bad and I have 3 windows in the room.

It's a bit crazy, 13 weeks have gone by since my babies arrived. Was it ever any other way? I can't remember...

President Obama

Charlie decided to stay home with me today to watch the innugaration coverage. He has been repeating every word practically, including President Obama, Malia and Sasha (I think he likes that name especially).

Really he bounced off the bed last night and hit his head... woke up vomiting, so just decided the poor kid needed a break. The day has gone pretty darn smooth. 1st full day just the 4 of us believe it or not...
And at the moment everyone is napping!!! Yippee!!!

Yeah to a new era!!!

1st Playdate

We had our 1st playdate last week with our twin friends, Mac & Henry. Mac & Henry are about 22 hrs older than Will & Matt. All the boys had a great time. Some of us so great a time, we slept through it (um Will)...
Jon and I also had our 1st Teacher Conference for Charlie's school. Apparently, he is a great classroom helper and the 1st to the mat for carpet time (stories, etc). Like the other boys in the class, he shows no, zip, nada interest in potty training. All in good time.

It's been busy, this weekend we made a fast trip up to Wintergreen and had a great time visiting with aunts uncles and cousins!
We have now lined up a Nanny for T/W/Th and have been interviewing for M/F. It seems 2 people will work out better than 1.
All else is well here - excited to watch the innaguration activity!

Slight panic

Well, here we are 2 1/2 weeks until I go back to work... and no nanny. We have been working with a nanny placement agency, referrals, craig's list ads, etc. You'd think it would be a little easier, but haven't found the right situation yet.
I am definitely a little nervous. We had to give the daycare notice that we wouldn't be coming Feb 1, so we are really unknown as to the next steps. AGH! I do have 1 girl that I really like, but her schedule is pretty constricting and I'm not sure if it will work out...
For a planner like me, this is driving me crazy. Can you tell???

Growing growing growing

Just got back from the pediatricians. Took the babies in this morning because both have been congested and stuff is going around. Charlie came home Friday from school with strep throat and felt awful.
Fortunately, the babies are fine, just a cold, and Charlie is feeling A LOT better after a rough day Friday.

The boys are packing on the pounds. Will weighed in at 12 lb 15 oz and Matt weighed in at 12 lb 8 oz today. The nurse said to take off about 4 oz since they had clothes on, but that is a significant gain since our last visit 12/29.
Busy here, still looking for a Nanny. Have an interview today and tomorrow. We shall see...
Been getting ready. Shifted my "office" to the basement so I will have a quiet spot or shall we say so the boys can have peace and quiet on their floor while I yap away.

My Dave Matthews Letter

If you didn't know the story, I thought I would share this letter we sent to Dave Matthews:

I am one of many millions of Dave Matthews Band and Friends along with my husband Jon. We attended our 1st concert together at Brown’s Island back in ’94 and have attended many since then from Dave & Tim at VT’s Burress Hall, Crash Debut party at Traks in Charlottesville, concerts at Duke & Roanoke College and many concerts at Walnut Creek & Nissan Pavilion. The music has been something we have shared together since we were high school sweethearts and have loved throughout the years.

Not only have I enjoyed the music, I’ve always been rather proud to love a band that was involved in such important causes as fighting global warming, showing support for the victims/survivors of the Virginia Tech shootings and most recently Dave’s commitment to supporting a Presidential Candidate. When we heard Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds were playing a benefit concert for Barack Obama at the Siegel Center in Richmond, we knew that we wanted to attend despite the fact I was 34 weeks pregnant with twins. We were both excited for the opportunity to hear Dave & Tim, but also to hear what Dave had to say about Obama.
As we were sitting in the audience, my twins started moving with the beat of the music, and I felt as excited as I was listening to the music and laughing along with Dave’s comments. I too believed that the “screams of celebration” from around the world would be “audible without microphones” should Obama be elected. That night, I was truly inspired by Dave’s commitment to be apart of the larger cause and to so willingly offer his time in support of a great cause. During the evening, listening to Dave, I thought of what I could offer in support of the world and felt very thankful for the night.

Later that evening (thankfully at home), my water broke. Within 5 hrs of the concert, my twin boys arrived. I’d like to think that they too were thrilled with the excitement in the air and decided to make an early debut. Since my firstborn’s name is Charles “David,” we felt it fitting that we captured some of the evening with Dave & Tim when naming our twins. On Monday, Oct. 27th, we welcomed both William Patrick and Matthew Bradshaw to the world.

Thanks again to Dave Matthews, Tim Reynolds and the whole band for many great memories over the years and inspiring us all to be more.

YEAH HOKIES!!!

Wow, where did the week go? We've been feeling pretty adventuresome. Charlie had a sleepover at his Grandma/Paw K's and Jon and I took the babies out to Mexico for dinner. It was fun. Almost felt like we were out on the town!!!
For my birthday, all the boys took me to breakfast at our favorite spot, Paradise Diner. Went pretty well, minus the waitress almost taking out Will. He was sitting in his carseat in a high chair at the end of the booth and she wasn't looking and ran right into him, but Dad saved the day and caught him.
And that night, we cheered the Hokies onto victory at Grandma & Papa Wood's and had a sleepover there. It took it out of us to stay up so late, but it was worth it... glad to have a bowl win, nonetheless a BCS win after the long drought.
