Charlie is 4 YEARS OLD!

All I can say is that this birthday should go on the record books as one that was fun, extended and thoroughly celebrated by all. I can not believe my Charlie is 4 years old. He was so excited and as you may know, has been asking for months if "today is my birthday?" It was nice to finally say YES, today is YOUR Birthday!

There are too many favorites to list, but Charlie totally enjoyed:

  • Taking Krispy Kreme Doughnuts to school for his class (Jon, Matt, Will and I also enjoyed these)
  • CARS Birthday Card from his Aunt Alice/Uncle Earl to get the day started
  • Pizza for his party
  • Cake every day and every meal between Friday and today! (ok, not breakfast, we do draw the line somewhere)
  • Little Gym party with his school friends
  • Talking to his cousins Thor & Gavin on the phone
  • Celebrating with his other Cousin Stacy
  • Starting soccer for the season (6 weeks)
  • Everything Batman and Trio (I never knew they had Barbies for Boys as Batman, I think I will be able to play too)
  • Pick up from school by Dad in the VW Bus. (For those that can't relate, this would be like maybe getting picked up in a brand new, cherry red, convertible, BMW, Mercedes or take your pick... it is COOL!)

Pizza and yes, everyone else is waiting on me to finish to eat cake

Jockey's Ridge

Flying kites and checking it out

Will on the way down

While we were at the beach we trucked to Jockey's Ridge/Kitty Hawk Kites. We actually headed there for a festival, but sometimes as our luck goes, it was the day before.
Last year, we went for the same festival and while Jon and Charlie trucked to the top to fly kites, I sat in the back of the mini-van giving Matt & Will their bottles. Wow, is it amazing where we've come from a year ago. They were practically mad that they had to go up in back packs.

Trying to capture M & W's "talk"

Matt and Will both have a unique language that we have been trying to capture on video. Both are often talking, but we haven't been successfully getting them both on tape.

This is our trip home from the beach and catches both Matt and Will doing their talk. Matt likes to roll his tongue and Will is always talking about digga, digga, digga.

PS this is just half the sound normally heard in the car. Ha.

Last week's trip to Corolla

Last week we took a little jaunt to Corolla for the afternoon.
It was a crazy windy day, with white caps on the sound.

Inside the Corolla Wildlife Nature Center. The whole area is really nice with the Lighthouse, boardwalks/piers. But it is definitely a sunny day area, not a rainy day area. I told Jon to remind me of that if I suggested going to the Nature Center in the future. It is really for more 'mature' nature lovers and has lots of things to read and see historically. Not the most interesting for young kids...

After a lot of riding around in the stroller, Matt and Will were anxious to be 'free.' We got the kite out for a bit and chased Matt and Will. Silly enough, we set up a blanket to sit on, but they only came over when they needed more goldfish.

A bunch of Cowboys

We are back on the range so to speak... had an awesome time at the beach. Even working, it is just a different pace of life and easier for me to put things into perspective when you can take a walk on the beach. The weather could not have been better for spring break, 75-80 most days.

Since we came home, Charlie has found his cowboy hat and cowboy boots that were handed down from our friends. He likes for me to wear mine too!

A day at the beach...

We made the trek to Southern Shores Friday... somehow, the next 2 weekends were the only weekends without conflicts to get here, so we have decided to make a week of it. A little working from here in between beach walks.

Easter weekend at the beach of course reminds me of how much has changed in just 4 short years, when my oldest blessing came along...
